Very pretty this time of year... to bad the bicyclists are taking over this part of the forest. And the forest service is closing all the roads and locking people out.. screw the forest service.. they've ruined the hunting completely and damaged the forest with their burns and digging and their gates...
Wolf Creek pass is unforgettable. Stop at viewpoint. Very beautiful part of Colorado. Stunning.
San Juan National Forest is one of the most beautiful places in the United States. Lots of Tall Pines cool breezes nice weather streams Lakes if you want to go camping it's a perfect location. There are several camping areas for RVs and Tents in the San Juan. So if you're a camper this is a great place to explore.
One of the best camping places we have visited for dry camping. Amazingly clean vaulted toilets and great sites with plenty of room. Loop C is the best. Beware, the sites on Loop C are smaller in pad length, but if you can back a trailer in you can do it. We were able to get a 33' bumper pull in. Great park hosts as well.
Chimney Rock National Monument is well worth your time, easily accessible with great views. Spend 12 bucks a head for the Ranger led tour to the top, lots of info on the indigenous people that lived in the area. You might see a Peregrine falcon as well and dog kennels are available, enjoy
